The weight-loss drug Meridia (sibutramine) has been removed from the market by drug maker Abbott Laboratories following a request from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The removal follows months of debate over the risk profile of Meridia, which had been linked to heart attacks and stroke by some researchers.
